Initially, a YouTube video of an eagle snagging up a toddler astounded millions of audiences, some of whom could not have right away understood it was artificial. Uploaded on Tuesday, the clip reveals a golden eagle jumping out of the sky to grab an infant in its talons, then dropping the sons and daughter seconds later. In spite of broad and immediate skepticism of its credibility, it had more than 5 million views by Wednesday evening. The Canadian digital-media school where the video was developed released a statement Wednesday afternoon clarifying the clip as a hoax and calling the students involved. Nonetheless the school, Centre NAD, was unapologetic about its prank, even pointing audiences to an additional hoax video, developed by students, of an unlikely penguin escape.
