(CNN)-- Tunnels under the U.S.-Mexico border are nothing brand-new, but authorities spotted 2 smugglers taking a different approach today : driving a Jeep over the 14-foot fence dividing the 2 nations. But the makeshift ramp the suspects propped up at the border near Yuma, Arizona, didn't work, officials stated. UNITED STATE Border Patrol representatives patrolling the location saw the Jeep get stuck. It was left wedged atop the fence, and its drivers ran away into Mexico, the patrol stated in a statement. It was not instantly clear exactly what the vehicle could have been holding. "Suspects attempting to drive a vehicle over the border fence fell prey to their own devices," the statement stated. Border Patrol representatives confiscated the vehicle and the makeshift ramp.
