Excerpt:TUCSON, Ariz. -- Authorities state a 6-year-old boy who took a handgun to Tucson school in his backpack has actually been turned over to state child welfare officials. Tucson police state the unidentified child came to be ill late Thursday morning and was sent out to the registered nurse 's office at the Amphitheater district school. As the boy was being prepared to be sent out home, an employee discovered the handgun in the backpack. School authorities called 911 and police came at the school. The Arizona Daily Star says police discovered the father had a felony warrant for a parole violation. He was jailed Thursday night and police state fees are pending.
